Dear Customer,
Cost Plus Gaming was founded under the mission that a good quality Gaming PC shouldn't be overpriced. Furthermore, we believe in transparency in both the components we use and why we increase/decrease our prices.
First and foremost, from all of us at Cost Plus Gaming, we want to thank all of you for your support. Without you the community, we would have never been able to grow into the company we are today. Here are some important things we think you should know as a consumer
Regarding Memory Prices (RAM & Storage)
- Recently RAM & Storage prices have skyrocketed due to the fact that data centers have been buying up a majority of memory modules out in the market. This has led to an almost two fold price increase. We believe that this price increase may continue with no end in sight due to the demand and investment into AI and AI infrastructure. Memory chip manufacturers such as SK Hynix, Micron, Samsung have shifted their production to focus on higher margin products such as ECC RAM as well as Memory for high-end GPUs such as the Nvidia H200.
- We currently have on hand a healthy supply of DDR5 & NVMEs that we purchased prior to most of these exponential price changes. Once our old stock of memory is out we will have no choice but to either source new RAM at a higher price and raise prices or halt new sales all together. We are estimating price increases of anywhere around $50-$200.
Changes we made to our Tiers (Extreme, Arctic, Enthusiast, Essentials, Starter & Eco)
- We’ve tried every combination of parts, worked with every vendor, but we could not find a way to cut our pricing down on the Enthusiast Tiers without sacrificing what the Enthusiast Tier should be a, an entry point to a truly high-end build. Instead we have shifted to a different direction, we’ve upgraded and improved the Enthusiast Tier by incorporating the following upgrades. For customers who have already purchased Enthusiast builds, fear not, we ghost released these upgrades for the past few weeks.
- A higher-end Full-Sized B850 Motherboard for AMD Builds (MSI Pro B850-P Wi-Fi 7), Z790 & Z890 For Intel Builds
- Standard DDR5-6000 MHz CL 30 RAM for increases in performance
- A higher-end PCIe 4.0 NVMe with fast Read/Write speeds as well as longevity
- 80 PLUS Gold Rating, SPL B+ Tier Power Supply (Vetroo 850W & 1000W Fully Modular Power Supply) ATX 3.1
- We have furthermore added CPUs that were previously only available on the Enthusiast Tier builds onto the Essentials Tier to bring a good balance between value & performance. The Essentials Tier also received a slight upgrade with a full sized MSI B850-VC Wi-Fi 7 as standard for AMD Builds.
- Our Arctic Tier now will be elevated in using the same if not better components from our Enthusiast Tier.
- Our Eco Tier received both a motherboard as well as a Power supply Upgrade. All Eco Tier will use the ASRock Challenger/Pro Series 850W/650W 80 PLUS Gold Power Supplies, a significant upgrade from the previous Segotep Power Supplies that we used.
- There are many additional upgrades we've added to our other tiers as well. You can read about them more on our FAQ.
November Buying Guide
NOTE: Due to our significant increase in orders, we highly recommend placing your order earlier to accommodate for our longer build times. In addition, due to the holiday season, we may run out of our stock of RAM & NVME drives thus causing us to raise prices.
- For the month of November, the deals will mainly be on the following GPUs: AMD RX 9070XT 16GB GDDR6 (Historic Lows), Nvidia RTX 5070 TI 16GB GDDR7 (Below MSRP now), Nvidia RTX 5060TI 16GB GDDR7 (A Great Mid-Level Card), Nvidia RTX 5080 (We are starting to see more and more MSRP cards in the supply)
- RTX 5090s are on extreme shortage, we have priced our RTX 5090 builds to be extremely competitively priced but keep in mind build times may be longer due to the fact that all of our RTX 5090s are on allocation basis.
- We recommend customers to look at our Essentials Tier as we have brought over a lot of CPUs previously on our Enthusiast Tier over. This will be the best tier if you do not care about aesthetics and RAM timings.
- We DO NOT RECOMMEND waiting until Black Friday or Cyber Monday before looking for deals due to the fact that most of the savings retailers are advertising are false and are generally comparing the MSRP of the product and not the actual market value. This in return creates a false perspective that you're getting a great deal when in actuality it isn't.
- Keep an eye out on Walmart as there is a possibility Nvidia or AMD will fund promotions on Big-Name Pre-Built companies using their GPUs however this is a gamble as it's not necessarily a guarantee and you could be left behind facing higher-priced prebuilts due to the memory shortages.
Once again, thank you all! We look forward to growing our company and never ever sacrificing on our core values of honesty and transparency.
